Kumano Field Museum
Tours are now regularly available for anyone interested in a
variety of physical and spiritual experiences in a living museum
of ancient spiritual tradition. Since guests are entering into a
'museum' of sacred importance to the local population,
participants move through the region guided by a set of ethics
which enable them to deepen their appreciation of the region and
its importance as a historical pilgrimage destination. Guests may
choose a variety experiential routes according to their needs or
purpose for coming to Kumano. Local people with special knowledge
of the Kumano region act as 'Curators' serving a wide variety of
needs and interests. This is a picture of the members who
participated in the very first Kumano Field Museum Tour along the
Kumano Kodo (the ancient road of Kumano).
